HELLO DARLING FARM

Hey Ya!!  Welcome to our crazy country life-- just outside Charlotte, North Carolina.

I wanted a slower and simpler pace to my life.  About 20 years ago- I decided to add a few chickens to our little piece of heaven.  I fell head over heels-- for those curious, beautiful creatures that love to hunt and peck in the grass.  I wanted a connection with my food, garden, and life.  I slowly built my free-range egg posse and began searching for the best feeds, fodder, and treats for my girls.

I went crazy for those beautiful-colored eggs. I began experimenting with roosters and hens—breeds, colors, and types. I loved helping cultivate the next generation of layers.

The chicks I hatched were so healthy it was a no brainer for me - that this was what I wanted to do with my life--  So, I searched high and low for some great breeders. It wasn't easy to find local sources years ago.  There was no easy Google search... so it was word of mouth and much footwork.  When I couldn't find what I was looking for, I just created what I wanted from what I had....  that my friends, is how the Dragon Bloom - heavy bloom olive egger line was created... out of my need for beautiful, large green eggs....  my crossing and backcrossing created a heavy bloom.

We are proud of our progress and love sharing our hard work with our customers.   We started selling locally in 2018- and from then on it has grown.  Experience has taught us that better feed, better supplements, and free-ranging healthy chicks, teenagers, and chickens are needed.  They must be chickens- not penned up 24/7: fresh sunshine, dirt, and grass.

We offer hatching eggs from our lovely breeder flock, baby chicks, and grow-outs.  We occasionally have hens and roosters- these maybe breeder or pet quality.

We are in a state of transition as our goal is to have our own farm shop.  As we make that transition there maybe less on-line offerings.

We are members of the American Poultry Association,  The Marans Club, the Cream Legbar Club, and the Ameraucana Alliance.
